  For most residential use, 2K gives a real detail improvement over 1080p without the storage cost of putting 4K everywhere. The smarter approach is higher resolution where identification matters, such as the front door and driveway, and standard resolution where you only need to establish general activity. Lens choice and mounting distance affect usable detail more than megapixels do.

• Will the cameras survive a hurricane?

  A properly specified and properly mounted camera holds up well. We use weather-rated housings, corrosion-resistant hardware suited to salt air, and sealed cable entries, and we avoid mounting locations exposed to wind-driven debris. Most storm failures we are called to repair trace back to an unsealed penetration or an undersized mount rather than the camera itself.

• Do the cameras work during a power or internet outage?

  It depends on the design, which is worth planning for on the Gulf Coast. A wired setup on a battery-backed recorder keeps recording locally through a power cut, while a cloud-only camera stops when the internet does. We typically pair local recording with battery backup so the system stays useful during exactly the conditions that concern you most.

• Can I view my footage from my phone?

  Yes. Every system we install includes secure mobile access for live view, recorded playback, and motion notifications. You can check any camera from anywhere with a connection, share clips, and set which events actually alert you so the notifications stay meaningful rather than constant.

• How long is footage stored?

  Retention depends on how many cameras you have, the resolution, and whether you record continuously or on motion. Typical setups hold anywhere from two weeks to a couple of months. We size storage around how far back you would realistically need to look, then confirm the actual retention before we finish the job.

• Can you add cameras to my existing alarm system?

  Usually, yes. If your panel is a reasonably current platform, we can often add cameras to your existing system so video and intrusion alerts live in one app rather than two. We evaluate what you already own first and build on it wherever that makes sense instead of replacing equipment that still works.
