Frequently Asked Questions
Do I really need monitoring, or is a loud siren enough?
A monitored system reports to a central station that responds when an alarm trips. An unmonitored system just makes noise where it stands. If the house is empty and no neighbor calls it in, an unmonitored alarm rarely changes the outcome. Monitoring is what turns equipment into an actual response.
Are wireless sensors as dependable as hardwired ones?
Yes. Wireless sensors talk to the panel over an encrypted signal and run on long-life batteries the panel tracks and reports on. For older Mobile-area homes where running new wire means opening up walls and plaster, wireless is usually the sensible route and performs just as well.
Will the system keep working through a storm or outage?
It is designed to. The panel holds a backup battery and reports over cellular instead of your internet or phone line. On the Gulf Coast that matters more than almost anywhere, since power and internet often drop well before the worst of a storm arrives.
Can you take over the system that is already installed?
Frequently, yes. If the prior installer used standard sensors and wiring, we can often keep the existing devices and swap only the panel and communicator. Some proprietary equipment is locked to its original provider. We determine which you have during the site visit and tell you before you commit.
Can I control everything from my phone?
Yes. Arm and disarm remotely, get a notification the moment a zone opens, confirm the system was set after you left, and grant temporary access to family or a contractor without handing out a code you cannot revoke.
Does Mobile require an alarm permit?
The City of Mobile requires alarm users to register with the police department, and surrounding jurisdictions have their own rules and fees. We walk you through the application for your address as part of the install so the system is registered before it goes live.
Will my dog trip the motion detectors?
Pet-immune motion detectors are calibrated to ignore animals below a set weight while still catching a person moving through a room. We ask about your pets during the walkthrough and place and configure detectors accordingly, which is what prevents the false alarms that lead people to stop arming the system.
